Wrapping up in Macau

Galaxy FinalI am back in Macau finishing up a few things. We had left for a about a month so that Lexington Scenery could build their diamond onto our rotator. You can see the Diamond now with the two moving chandeliers and the two fixed chandeliers. The total weight on the system is roughly 19,000lbs and moves at a little less than 3fps. Pictures don’t do this thing justice.

New Project In Macau

I’ve just been hired by LA ProPoint as lead technical designer for a new casino project in Macau. It’s our job to raise, lower and spin a 20,000lb “Diamond” with 8 wire ropes attached to hoists in the ceiling. The 22′ by 11′ diamond is being made by Lexington Scenery and is 13,000lbs of aluminum and glass. It will then bolt onto a rotation element consisting of a 3′ crane bearing and a gear-motor. It looks like we are going to outsource the control system, which means I won’t be doing any of the programming unfortunately. I will most likely be in Macau for November and December missing Thanksgiving and Christmas once again. Instead of Bali for Christmas maybe Amanda and I can go to Thailand this time.
